    Overview

    What is Exanimus?
Exanimus is a new type of MMO in development that is set in the Zombie Horror Genre.

    Why a Horror Genre?
With all the different MMO's on the market, 90% of them fit into either a Fantasy or Sci-Fi genre. While there are a few that are different, we feel that it's time for something new and completely fresh. Exanimus is the first step into a new market that we hope to jumpstart with this title. Besides, everyone loves Zombies!

    What does Exanimus mean?
In Latin, it means "Without Life"

    What is a MMO?
A massively multiplayer online game (MMOG or MMO) is a type of computer game that enables hundreds or thousands of players to simultaneously interact in a game world that they are connected to via the Internet. Typically the kind of game is played in an online, multiplayer-only persistent world. (Source: Wikipedia)

When you say Mature Audiences only, what do you mean? Is this something my kids can play?
Exanimus is designed to be a very intense and graphic game. There will be very disturbing imagery and content that is NOT intended for anyone under the age of 18. This is DEFINITELY NOT FOR YOUR CHILDREN!

    Who is making this game?
Exanimus is being created by the Rotten Corpse team from TMSGames.

    Who is publishing Exanimus?
As of this moment, we are self publishing through TMSGames. We have been negotiating with several different publishers that have shown interest in our title, and if we find a publisher that we feel fits inside our plans with Exanimus, we will announce them as the official publisher.

Will this be available in stores or will it be downloadable?
While we hope someday to see it on store shelves, we are still too far away to say for sure. We are investigating direct download options and seeing where that leads.

Will there be a monthly fee?
Yes, but the fee will be competitively priced to other MMO's currently on the market.

What platform will the game be available on?
We are developing Exanimus for the PC.

Will there be a version released for my Mac / XBox 360 / Playstation 3?
You never know. With technology always changing, we are always interested in finding new outlets for people to play.

'What kind of internet connection will I need to play?
    We recommend a broadband connection.

What are the requirements for Exanimus to run on my PC?
We are still too far away to answer for sure, but the average PC should be able to run the game with no problems.

When will the Beta be available, and can I be a Beta Tester?
A Beta has not yet been set, but when we do have one, we will post it on the Exanimus site. We are looking to allow as many people as we can into the Beta to ensure that the game will be ready for distribution, and as bug free as possible.

    When will Exanimus be released?

When the game is finished. We do not want to announce a release date until we are 100% sure that will be the day that you can obtain a copy of the game. We hate it when developers announce a date only to keep pushing back the date by weeks, months, or even years. We don't want to do this and causing disappointment with our fans.

    Gameplay

Is this game going to be a RPG or FPS?

Currently, we have not announced that information.

Does Exanimus follow any kind of story?
Yes, there is a storyline created for players that they will be able to immerse themselves in.

What kind of game play can I expect?
Exanimus is a very dark and graphic game. Players will experience a very apocalyptic world, where everything is as bad as it can get, and then some. Players should expect to see half-rotten corpses walking around and tearing apart the bodies of the living for food.

    Is there PvP?
Yes. In most MMO games, the PvP area is usually some kind of area that is set aside for players wanting to do that. We have taking an entirely different route when it comes to PvP, PvZ, PvE, ZvE, and any other kind of v combination. Zombies and Human will be able to go at it at any time. That's a no brainier (no pun intended). But players playing as humans will also have the ability to go PvP against other human players. We have safe Zones from PvP, such as the Downtown survivor city and a few others. Think of it like Dodge City with Wyatt Earp walking around making sure everyone behaves themselves. But when you leave the safety of the city gates on a convoy or solo, don't just think Zombies are going to be your only problem.

Is this a solo game or team play game?
Both. We recognize that people like to play with others and sometimes by themselves. We have designed a format that will allow both types of players to enjoy their game experience.

What time period is Exanimus set in?

Exanimus is set in the modern world of today.

Are there character classes / professions?

There will be different professions for the Human players to choose from. Each one of these professions will be critical for the survival of the human players and teams protecting the city. Zombie players will also have some different class choices to offer a variety of choices on character customization.

    Are there NPC's?

Yes, there will be NPC's in the game helping players with a variety of items. Some NPC's will be story NPC's, maybe some vendors, and some other tasks.

Will a Creative and Clever mind help me survive?

Yes. Don't expect to walk into this game with some kind of laser pistol that has unlimited ammo and run into the middle of a Zombie pack and expect to win. That's not this game. How you progress your character, where you go for supplies, how you interact with the players and NPC's, what you carry with you, etc... will all impact you. If you act like an idiot, expect to be dinner for a Zombie or killed by another human.

Is there crafting in the game?

The universe of Exanimus is built around the idea of scavenging. In order for civilization to continue on, players must find materials and resources from the ruins of their old world in order to live on. From these materials, you will be able to craft a variety of items to ensure your survival.

Will there be player owned vehicles?

Yes. If you go and look at some of the concept art in the "Gallery", you can see an example of what your typical vehicle could potentially be. Remember, however, that vehicles will require an immense amount of resources to run and will most likely not be easy to acquire.

Will there be cross faction communication?

Yes, but only between the Outcasts and Survivors. Zombies will only be able to communicate with other Zombie players by default.

Will there be any kind of decay system for items?

Yes, players will have to maintain their characters, items, and equipment in order to survive.

    Zombie / Survivor / Outcast

Can I play as a zombie?
Yes, players will have the ability to become part of the walking dead and experience the game from a zombie's perspective. Nothing shows your friends that you care more than a big bite on the cheek.

If I play as a Survivor, can I become a Zombie?

Yes, Survivors can become infected and turn into Zombies.

What kind / type of Zombie is Exanimus using?

We have built our own, unique version of the zombie.

Do Zombie players control control a horde of Zombies or one specific Zombie?

Zombie players will have their own unique characters, however, zombies will get some sort of minion to counter human pets.

How many different types of Survivors / Zombies are there?

While there are no official releases about this, there will be different classes / professions for players to experience with both the Human and Zombie factions.

      What is an Outcast?

Outcast players are human survivors who have decided to go against the majority and are self serving. They have their own, chaotic settlement called Outpost Z. Outcast players, Survivors, and zombies will be able to PvP against each other. However, if the player so chooses, an outcast is able to work alongside a survivor in dire situations.

    Community

Will there be Guilds in the Game?
Yes, there will be guilds available that players can form on both sides, Human and Zombie.

Will there be some sort of reputation system?

Yes, players will be able to find a reputation system inside the game to help identify other helpful or harmful players.

How do you plan to integrate the community into the game's development?
We hope to do something that has not be done yet. We are going to give everyone a backstage pass during the development of the game. When production starts, we will be picking elements from the production team to post on. Players will then be able to view the artist progression day by day. So for instance, you will be able to log in and see the progression of a Zombie character from concept all the way to game engine integration. We also have several other plans that will allow players to get directly involved inside the game even before Beta. So we highly recommend everyone keep checking in on the site during production.

Is there an official forum for Exanimus?
Yes, you can access it by visiting http://www.exanimusthegame.com/ and clicking on the "Forums" link on the page.
